Portrait Project

Portraits have been at the heart of my practice since the very beginning. This project has guided me to all that I am today. It started by helping me have a focus in order to stay clean and sober. It taught me many things about the power of art and connection, which I continue to explore today.

To share in the experience of a portrait is intimate and exploratory. These portraits, of which there are over 600 in the world, were done primarily of people who I would consider strangers. I approached anyone I was drawn toward and ask if I could paint their portrait. If they agreed I would visit them at home and Paint one of these portraits which they would be able to keep free of charge.

Most of these have been lost throughout the years but if you have one please reach out to me, I would love to reconnect and get an image of your portrait in case I don’t have one.
