Has It Already Begun Within You?
July 5, 2022
I think it is inevitable that we will each recover ourselves over time. It is a natural process that we are all going through. We will evolve, grow, and unfortunately for some, on our deathbed, we will say "Oh, hell, now I see."
Fortunately, evolution is stepping-up and not waiting for us to do it. I am seeing more people every day notice that they want a bit more quiet time and a lot less stuff. This is a sign that they are ready to get out from under the influence. That can be uncomfortable because so many of us, until relatively recently, were influenced to want distractions, and they were being sold to us by the truckload.
When I started wanting less stuff and more quiet time people made comments that made me self-conscience. I felt like an outsider not wanting. Everyone wanted and expressed in eloquent ways how wanting was at the heart of living life. For years I would be at a loss trying to explain how I didn't want a big house or to spend all my time on a beach somewhere. I didn't care, it was all so empty to me.
I wanted to be quiet, with myself, and with others. That could be so uncomfortable for some, quietly communicating. For me, it was always so profound and was an entryway to do my portrait work. In the quiet, just like it was during my dark retreat, the thing that rises up is me, the only thing that I can ever really know.
If you are noticing that you are looking to find more quiet time, and are feeling like you want to get rid of all your stuff, then you can relax, you're exactly where you need to be. You’re not crazy, lazy, or afraid. It won't always be comfortable but remember that you're being held. It is going to take a long time for everyone to get there but it'll be easier for them if you step forward first.
