How do you Interpret Inspiration?
October 25, 2022
When communicating with others we interpret everything that is said. We take what others say to us and hear exactly what we want to hear. That is to say, we hear dissent and/or agreement depending on what we expect or how we define what is said.
We are always interpreting the world. We cannot experience it without interpretation. And still many of us want to believe we are seeing the "Truth." The simple fact is, we cannot.
Similarly, inspiration is something we interpret as well. If you feel inspired you will go out and act upon that inspiration in some way. However, you are acting upon it with all your biases and preferences. You may claim to have been inspired to do "X" but, like with all communication, you were inspired and interpreted it in a way that lead you to do "X."
As I was translating the Tao te Ching I realized that Tao inspires us and trusts us to interpret that inspiration. Tao doesn't interfere and has no preference for how we interpret it. Tao is neutral.
Depending on all the experiences we have had, we will interpret inspiration differently. If we look at Hitler, we see one way inspiration can be interpreted, Mother Theresa shows us another. You are being inspired right now, how you interpret that inspiration will contribute something to the world. Are you tired of consuming the never-ending stream of content and information? What you choose to do with that feeling is going to be what changes the world.
If you are interested in learning about how you can better interpret inspiration and help heal this world, then you are ready to begin a journey to recover yourself. Respond to this email and let's set up a time to talk further.
