I Am Humbled By the Little Things
December 14, 2021
The littlest things make the biggest difference over time. So many big steps, ah-ha moments, and epiphanies can disintegrate after the moment passes. Those big shifts can also become anchors that keep us from growing any more. But when we can have some small shift, that is sustainable over time, the growth we can achieve is unmeasurable.
Who I am today is not only not who I was 21 years ago, it's not who I was last week. And there is no end in sight as to what I can grow and change into. It is a bit daunting at times when I feel ungrounded and lost. Either way, I continue to take it one day at a time. Every day I get to ask myself "What am I going to do today?" and although there was a time that "Don't drink!" was the answer, today my answers are so much more robust and filled with possibility.
Over the last 21 years, I have learned that I am worth the life I have been gifted. I still forget that on occasion, but it's not long until I remember, or am reminded, and I get back to the work of living, one day at a time.
