The Things You Believe
February 8, 2022
Years ago I noticed many people had beliefs they didn't care about. For me, I noticed many Christians, although they are firm in their belief in God, damnation, and all of that, never exerted any energy in practicing their beliefs. It seemed what was most important was to rail against things they didn't believe.
This was an eye-opener for me because, before that, I had so many beliefs. More importantly, those beliefs helped me identify things I didn't believe. Realizing that to believe in something didn't mean I had to understand it, or defend it, gave me the freedom to not be bothered.
Is the world flat or round? Yes, and I am not bothered by it. I don't have the energy or interest in changing people's minds, and they don't want me to. To that end, I believe in everything and speak about the things that interest me without having to draw a line in the sand that cannot be crossed. For me, this is harm reduction.
The thing that interests me the most is YOU. Not the you that you identify with, but the you that is connected to me, and all things. You may have no idea about who this is because of all the influences we are surrounded by. YOU are more than the things you believe or don't believe. Do yourself a favor, believe in it all, and stop wasting your energy on shit that doesn't matter.
