You May Be Caring About the Wrong Things

You May Be Caring About the Wrong Things

August 24, 2021

This is not just about sobriety, I don't care if you can read, or if you have killed someone, if you are a millionaire, or won a Nobel prize, none of that matters to me, but you do.

When I visit an Intensive Outpatient Program and talk to people who are recently sober, I tell them plainly, "I don't care about your sobriety." and why should I? Is it that important? It could be to one of them, maybe all of them, but that is not for me to say, nor is it for me to concern myself with.

That is because I am not there speaking to alcoholics, or addicts, I am there speaking to people. No matter what they do, or have done, none of it matters.

You are a person and deserve love. You also deserve to love yourself. Too many people think it is what they do that makes them worthy of love. You have never not been worthy of love, and I will always strive to offer that to you.
